Alesandro Nesta now 24,has been playing with lazio since he was 9, a quite long time devoted to Lazio.He was born in Rome at March 19, 1976 at 10.30 at the hospital Policlinico Umberto I.His mother Maria Laura gives birth to a beautiful baby of 4 kilos and 100 grams.His father Gueseppe and his two brothers Fernando and Katia make a pet of him. His father works on the railways at Nuovo Salario station. Alessandro has a happy childhood in his quarter of Cinecitta, in the suburbs of Rome.He attends the primary school at Margherita Bosco. In the afternoon he always plays football in a little field near home with his brother and some friends. When he is 8 he starts to play in a real football team. His doctor recomends him to do something with sport since he has a problem with his back.He choses football. Therefore in 1984 his father enters him for a football school in Cinecitta.but Alessandro wants to attend it with his brother.so his father decides to enter his other son too. His first trainer Mr.Piccioni:alessandro trains two times a week.In the meanwhile he develops his love for Lazio, and he starts to follow the matches of this team at the stadium.

Afterwards by chance his father reads an insert in a newspaper were it is writing that lazio club is looking for new talented players.He immediately thinks of alessandro.There will be a test on 13th of June.Alessandro together with his father arrives to Stefanino field in san Basilio,where Lazio club ha arranged a test for 300 childeren born in 1976.Mr Pulici, the responsible for Lazio juvenile sector and Mr. Patarca trainers for the beginners test him. I like the way he played with his head hels high and his simplicity- Says Mr. Patarca.I immediately called his father and i told him that Alessandro would have a good chance to receive a Lazio member chip card.In fact on july 2nd, he received it.He states he has attended the footbal school for two years when he only took part in tournaments.One of them is "Torneo Aquilotto" wich is the starting point for all Lazio players: the first year we lost at the final match against the boys of 1974, while the following year we won.he asserts. Alessandro continues playing for other two years in the beginers catogory. He played as central half back says Mr Patarca- Nesta was unique. In fact i called him Nesta kid. Still today i used to call him at this way explains Mr.Patarca.and i have stored his phone number on my unplugged telephone under the name kid. What i like most of him is simplicity, a good quality he inherited from his father-he says-I called him Captain.When Alessandro played at Borghesiana we enjoyed a lot. he used to prepare sandwiches fo everybody-he reminds- Now i'm very much satisfied of him since he is a good player. I have always believed in him. I was sure he would become what he is now.When we played agains Milan, Inter, Juventus Nesta always standed out: he generally when the price of best player while Di Vaio won the price at top goal scorer but now he has to stop He risks living football for ever states Mr patarca People specialised in fooball have started to mistrust about what i said and wrote in my paper wich i drew up when Alessandro was 12 continues patarca. Alessandro had pains in his back because of his fast grow. He was growing up fast and he only needed to strenthen his body wich exercise ends up Mr. patarca. He recovery is hard but his pride helps him to get better. His stops looking for trouble and starts playing again.

In summer 1993, Nesta becomes a professional football player: Zoff, for the first time trainer of a team, brings him to the summer football retreat in Seefeld, in Austria. On a Saturday of March 12th 1994, a few days before his 18th birthday, Zoff puts his name on the list of the names of people who will play in the match against Udine. During this retreat his shares his room with Sclosa. At the 33rd minute of the second half of the match Alessandro Nesta takes the place of Casiraghi. He plays for just 12 minutes, enough to receive many compliments from Zoff and his playmates. The final score of the match is 2-2. "I still remember that Alessandro was shaking in his shoes. He was very excited before starting playing. But then, he succeeded in overcoming his emotion: I've never had doubts about his skills, but the most surprising thing about him is his recovery. I didn't think he would have started playing again in such a short time after his accident." - says Dino Zoff , the present Italian football officer. Since the first match with Lazio Nesta will play to the fore. After his first matches, four boys from Collevecchio, the place where Nesta spends his holidays and where he has got his best friends, give him a plaque,At the head of the group there is Antonio, the other three friends are Simeone, Maurizio and Claudio. On April 7th, Nesta during a training encounters with Gascoigne, thus causing a lesion of tibia and fibula. Alessandro cries and before he is taken to the hospital Gazza encourages him saying that it's not his fault. During the championship of 1994-95 the new trainer of Lazio is Mr. Zeman: Zoff is now the President of Lazio. With the new trainer Nesta learns to play in zone. On January 15th at "Olimpico" stadium in Rome there is the match against Foggia; this is the great occasion for Alessandro. In fact, during the match Favalli has a pain in his leg and can't play. So, at the 29th minute Zeman says him: "Alessandro, it's your turn." And that's how Alessandro reminds that moment: " I was beside myself with joy. The most beautiful thing for me and for anyone else was to play in my Stadium side by side with many football champions." "What I remind most?"- says Alessandro - " The free-marking passage to Signori in the area and the goal scored by Boksic; they have nothing to do with me but during that action I felt inside me as an appeal. I ran to embrace Alan under the bend, that bend that hosted me so many times??what a fantastic sensation! "My relationship with Alessandro is beautiful and it doesn't need to be renewed everyday" - says Pulici, the goalkeeper of Lazio - "I've always been near him, and I believe I gave him much more attention than others, which was important to get him to improve." - ends up Pulici. The most important Italian football clubs start to be interested in him, above all Berlusconi, the President of Milan, who cares about him very much; he is convinced Alessandro can be the worthy successor of Baresi. But Lazio club refuses any kind of negotiation. During the championship, Nesta plays some matches with "Primavera" of Mr. Caso. In fact, he plays the most beautiful match with the juvenile team in June: at "Olimpico" stadium the team of Caso wins the championship over Perugia in the finals before 40 thousand spectators. For Mr. Caso this is a very difficult year, he is ill, but his team gave him great joy. "My team-mates and I knew that he wasn't very well. Then we realised he was seriously ill. He started losing his hair." - says Alessandro. - "It has been a very hard year but fortunately it ended up in the best way . We won the championship, but we received our greatest joy by our trainer. He won his most important match, his disease." - ends up Nesta. In July 1995 in Japan he wears the shirt number 13, the same number of the day in which he had his test with Lazio (June 13th 1985), and the day of the beginning of his career (March 13th 1994). And since the fifth day of the championship, the derby with Roma, Zeman names him for first-team player. On September 26th, at Nicosia he starts playing in Wefa cup against the team Omonia. Meanwhile, he rents a flat in Rome on Giustiniana road together with his team-mate Grandoni, the new player for Lazio.

At beginning of November the Italian championship is suspended; Nesta is going to Isola d'Elba to spend a three days holiday with his friends from Collevecchio. He receives a call, and a manager of Lazio communicates him that Cesare Maldini, trainer of the Italian Under 21 national team, convoked him for the qualifying match of the European championship. Italy wins 2-1 against Ukraine. Since now, Nesta starts playing with the Italian team. On May 30th in Barcelona the final match for the first place in the European championship is played. Italy plays against Spain. The gold medal is awarded through the penalty kicks. Nesta is the second-last to kick the ball. He scores. Italy is the new European champion. Alessandro is appointed the best half-back of all European teams. But there is still another surprise for him: the Italian national team leaded by Sacchi is training for the European championship in England. Ferrara is injured and Sacchi calls him in his place. During the training Alessandro amazes everybody, but Sacchi doesn't dare to make him play. Nesta takes part to the Olympic Games in Atlanta in Under 21 team, but they are beaten. On October 1996 he starts playing with the Italian national team. He plays as first-team player against Moldova. Meanwhile, Lazio is near to relegation in Italian national championship. Mr. Cragnotti, the President of Lazio, changes the trainer, and Zoff takes the place of Zeman. Zoff leaves his position of President and Lazio is placed fourth. Since next July Eriksson will be the new trainer of Lazio. The period 1997-98 is very special for Nesta. On September 16th at Guirmaraes during Uefa Cup Nesta scores his first official goal with Lazio: he starts the action from the middle of the field, he dribbles three players and the goalkeeper and scores making a soft lob.

Lazio championship is fantastic, as well as Nesta. Thanks to him Lazio wins the second Italian Cup in his history. At "Olimpico" stadium Lazio - Milan is the last match for this cup, where Milan is winning 1-0 at the first half of the match. At the beginning of it Milan wins, but Lazio recovers in few minutes: the result is 2-1. Nesta scores the third goal, the crucial one, and very happy he runs under the north bend exulting with his funs. The World Football Championship is played in France. Cesare Maldini, the trainer of the Italian team makes him play as first-team player. On June 23rd, during the second match against Austria, Alessandro is badly injured: lesion of the ligaments of his right knee. He badly puts down his foot , he covers his face with his hands and he is carried out of the field on a stretcher. The following day he is in Rome where he must be operated. Three days after the accident, at Villa Stuart, Doctor Mariani operates him. For six months he can't play, but Alessandro wants to play again as soon as he can. During the retreat at Vigo di Fassa, his team-mates decide to give him the sash of captain. The trainer Eriksson says that this decision has been taken by all the players. "He is very important for us. As many as adjectives you can use, they aren't enough to say how he is good." - ends up Eriksson. We decided to give him this sash to Nesta because he can hold this role, and he is able to represent his team." - says Pulici. - "He has the qualities to receive this reward. He is the symbol of Lazio and the town of Rome." - ends up Pulici. Everybody is amazed by his strength and grit; in fact, after only five months and ten days he starts playing again. It's on December 3rd. Eriksson calls him to play against Inter for the Italian Cup. While Nesta is going up the steps to reach the field of Olimpico, his fans give him a warm welcome and they stop striking. Couto hurts himself at the end of the first half, and so Eriksson tells him to warm up. The period of torments, fears and anxiety is ended up. In the second half of the match he starts playing with such a spontaneity belonging only to the best champions; therefore, he starts leading Lazio again. In the Italian championship Lazio is at the first place. The year 2000 is a dream for the Lazio's fan, because the Nesta's team win an Uefa Super Cup against Manchester United on August 1999, an Italian Championship and the third Italian Cup of her story on May 2000. And the dream goes ahead.....The 2000/2001 season starts good with the victory in the Italian Supercup against Internazionale .Lazio win for 4-3 after a good mach in the Olimpic Stadium of Rome on the 8th of september 2000.
